The second annual York Design Week is happening 24 October - 1 November 2020. A group of 26 emerging and established creative graphic designers, illustrators and artists from York are exhibiting an alphabet of illuminated letters at York's famous Museum Gardens.
Twenty six A2 prints each featuring a letter of wood type, shall be displayed in a trail around the Pavillion Lawn in York's beautiful botanical gardens. This Covid-safe outdoor art exhibition is inspired by the wood type manufactured by DeLittle on York's Vine Street until the 1990s.
York graphic designer, Abell Design was honoured to be selected to contribute an illuminated letter. Until the exhibition opens, the artwork remains top secret, so you'll have to go see for yourself to discover which one Abell illuminated.
The exhibition will run 26 October - 1st November and looks to be a pleasant activity for all the family.
After the exhibition closes, the prints will be available to purchase by online auction, so if you miss out on the event, you can at least take a piece of it home with you.
