The Grandparent Box needed friendly, fun branding and packaging design for its subscription gift box.
As 21st century grandparents don't fit into boxes, I avoided putting a cliched old lady on this one. A traditional Russian doll logo was enough to signify generational status without implying the grandparent's age nor sex.
A bow on the box forms a heart shape, as it is love that is exchanged when a box is gifted. The font Banda was selected for its thick stems, ensuring it will print on a cardboard box effectively. Its curved serifs provide an informal but not childish look. Finally, the yellow and grey colour scheme is fun, gender-neutral and was fitting as it is used in the branding of many international postal services.
